HEIDI HENTZE investigates porcelain and glaze in poetically folded pieces.
Based on inspiration from architecture and origami, she challenges with a superior technical ability the classic slab techniques, material and gravity.
Geometric constructions become meticulously assembled into paper-thin clay platelets. Hereafter the less controllable firing process adds pieces an organic sensuality, a deformation towards the beauty of decay, a poetic story.
An atmosphere of fragile existence and the presence of absence, are often the focal point of Hentze's crisp, delicate pieces.
