KIRSTEN HØHOLT combines drawing and ceramics in personal tactile images on hand thrown objects: cups, plates and dishes. Kirsten is also working with figurative sculptural pieces based on her playful
drawings.
The subjects are applied directly to the clay in various techniques, including mono printing and layering slips, combined with glazes and ceramic transfers.
Both the functional and sculptural pieces portray and comment on everyday reflections and language
idiosyncrasies. The starting point is often Danish and also British puns, proverbs and sayings that she visualizes in ceramics.
Completed the objects appear playing with meaning and images deriving from the language.
