CHARLOTTE THORUP is occupied with pattern and repetition, spatial dimensions and context.
The inspiration arises both from the city's architectural dimensions and the naturally inherent
symmetry. Interpretation become an investigation in letting these visual impressions and feelings be
reflected in the clay. She models thin elements that are put together in compositions. Module by
module lead to a new form where the many individual parts are assembled into one whole of organic
metamorphosis. She combines porcelain and stoneware to show material contrasts of strength and
fragility. The expression appears out of the pieces' light and shadow effects, supported by the chosen
glazes' color combinations and tactile qualities of matte and glossy surfaces.
