Scott Parady

Scott Parady received his MFA from Penn State University and currently is a ceramics professor at Sacramento State University in Sacramento, CA. Scott fires an anagama wood kiln which he built on beautiful wooded acres in California. Much of Scott's work is pinched rather than wheel thrown. He is facile at building volumes, (as small as a teabowl or as big as a large urn) with harmony. The gesture and surfaces are inviting places for wood ash to land. Sometimes the foot is cut, using a knife to procure torn disrupted clay surfaces. One can turn the pot in the hand and make discoveries all the way around. Scott's work delights the discerning eye
