I am always interested in how cultural ideas about gender and value are reflected in our symbols and perceptions of things. Flowers are associated with both the feminine and sexuality in our culture. Twirling Girl’s flowers remain ambiguous. They could represent her innocence, her sexuality, her female role, her girl essence, her creative power, her force, her joie de vie, her nature or something else.
